I am absolutely thrilled to be attending my first Midwest Bookish Fest in Minneapolis, MN. It will be my first time in the wonderful city and this festival is already so well run I cannot wait. I’m on two panels! Saturday at 9am: This or That: Bookish Tropes, Genres or Boyfriends. Sunday at 10am: But Daddy, I Love Them: Writing Love Interests in Fiction. I cannot wait to attend Wine and Words, hosted by Plenty Downtown Bookshop. If you haven’t visited Plenty, you absolutely must. It is the cutest store I’ve ever seen. The Wine and Words event takes place at DelMonaco Winery and is an entire weekend of authors, panels, books, and wine. What could be better? More details as they emerge!

There’s an entire day of fun fantasy events at Parnassus! My portion will be at the end of the day at 4pm where I will be reading relationship cards. I’ll be able to tell the hear and now of any relationship—real life or with your favorite fantasy character—using cards. The only information you need to give me is what the person identifies as: he/she/they. Of course I’m willing to sell any books you may purchase at the time.

So excited to venture to this adorable small town just 30 minutes from Nashville to celebrate their bookstore’s expansion opening with four other amazing authors! Killer Nashville was one of the first conferences I ever attended as a writer! I’m excited to be going back this year. I’ll stop by as often as I can after work on Thursday and Friday, but the big days to catch me will be Saturday and Sunday! I’ll be participating in two panels Saturday: Writing Romance and Writing Intimacy, and one panel Sunday: How to Build A Newsletter. I’ll be selling copies of Ghost Tamer (which won Killer Nashville’s Silver Falchion Award for Best Book of 2023 last year) and A Dagger of Lightning!

It's common to deal with anxiety or depression in today's world, sometimes even both! As upsetting as it can be to have something you're struggling with affect an activity you love—like your writing—the reality is, brain chemistry does matter. The good news is that you can find ways to keep writing and enjoy it. In this class we'll discuss some reasons why the way you wrote at your baseline may be different than how you'll write when anxiety or depression spikes. We'll discuss different methods to try to keep writing through it, or ways to determine when and if a break from writing is appropriate and what you can use that time for instead so that you come out inspired and ready to go. While geared toward fiction writers, the things we'll discuss could benefit those working on non-fiction, memoir, and poetry.
